Speech & Language Therapy

Areas of difficulty may include:

  • Speech sound delays and disorders
  • Stammering (dysfluency)
  • Language Disorders
  • Social Communication and Interaction
  • Communication difficulties associated with social, emotional, behavioural or mental health needs (SEMH)

Packages

Occupational Therapy Assessment Packages

1. Consultation advice

  • Consultation with parent/ school and verbal strategies provided

2. Basic assessment or observation package

  • Observation in setting or assessment of one area of need eg. Handwriting , fine motor skills, sensory screening
  • Meeting with parent and school/ nursery to discuss concerns
  • Summary report with recommendations/ advice

3. Occupational Therapy assessment package

  • Discussion with parent/ carer
  • Discussion with school
  • Full assessment including sensory processing, motor skills and praxis
  • Report with summary of findings & recommendations
  • Feedback meeting with parents and school

4. Full Sensory Integration assessment package

  • Discussions with parent/ carer
  • Discussion with the school
  • Full sensory integration assessment using ‘gold standard’ 2022 assessment: Evaluation of Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI)
  • Detailed report with findings & recommendations
  • Feedback meeting with parents and school

5. Education Health & Care Plan ‘top up package’

  • Top up any of the above packages with this option to create a report with recommendations quantified and specified for EHCP purposes

Speech & Language Therapy Assessment Packages

  • Meeting with parent and school/ nursery to discuss concerns
  • Observation in setting and basic overview of speech and communication needs for children who are non-speaking
  • Summary report with recommendations
  • Feedback meeting with parent and school/nursery

3. Basic assessment

  • Assessment of one area of need only (eg. Speech sounds, Social communication, receptive language)
  • Summary report with recommendations/ advice

4. Speech & Language Therapy assessment package

  • Discussion with parent/ carer
  • Discussion with the school
  • Observation at school/ nursery
  • Full assessment of speech, language, and communication to formulate individual profiles of strengths and needs
  • Report with a summary of findings & recommendations
  • Feedback meeting with parents and school

5. Education Health & Care Plan ‘top up package’

  • Top up package 3 with this option to create a report with recommendations quantified and specified for EHCP purposes

Multi-Disciplinary Specialist Assessment

1. Multi-Disciplinary Specialist Assessment Package

Trauma, Sensory, Attachment & Communication Assessment package

This package may be funded via the Adoption Support Fund (for adopted children) if deemed appropriate after a social worker needs assessment. In conjunction with Dr Kate Baldry

  • Discussion with parent/ carer and school
  • Full comprehensive clinic assessment of Attachment, Sensory Processing, Communication, and Interaction. This will include a Clinical Psychologist, Specialist Occupational Therapist, and Specialist Speech Therapist, all trauma-informed.
  • Observation of parent/carer and child play
  • Detailed report and recommendations
  • Feedback meeting with carers and team around the child

2. Multi-Disciplinary Sensory, Motor Language & Communication Assessment package

  • Discussion with parent/ carer and school
  • Full comprehensive clinic assessment of motor skills, Sensory Processing, and Communication. Language and. interaction skills. Led by one Occupational Therapist and one Speech & Language Therapist.
  • Detailed report and recommendations
  • Feedback meeting with carers and school

3. Specialist Feeding and Eating Assessment

(This package will NOT provide an ARFID diagnosis)

  • Discussion with parent/ carer and school
  • Assessment of feeding, swallowing and sensory needs in relation to food. Conducted jointly with a Specialist SALT and Occupational Therapist
  • Observation of the child eating
  • Summary advice sheet / profile personal to child
  • Feedback meeting with parents

Therapy Packages

Packages apply to Occupational Therapy Assistant OR Occupational Therapist OR Speech & Language Therapist (nb. The occupational therapy assistant will always follow the occupational therapist’s plans and work under their supervision and guidance)

1. Small Therapy package includes:

  • 6 sessions of weekly therapy (45 mins direct time)
  • Goal setting with parents/ teachers and child
  • Liaison with school/ home
  • Therapy planning time
  • Professional record-keeping
  • Travel

2. Large Therapy package includes:

  • 10 sessions of weekly therapy (45 mins direct time)
  • Goal setting with parents/ school and child
  • Liaison with school/ home
  • Therapy planning time
  • Professional record-keeping
  • Travel

School Commissions

School commissions

  • 50 hours of input in school – no expiry date
  • 100 hours of input in school – no expiry date

Hours can be used however school wishes, For example for training, SENCo consultations, assessments, classroom observations, intervention groups, parent drop in’s, whole school integrative approaches.
